"We did have a few issues with the property, but the management responded quickly to our issues. One was error on my part, but the main issue we had was that the fridge smelled of fish. We put baking soda in it in a few places, but it smelled the entire time we were there and made our food, drinks and ice taste and smell bad. I don't fault the management for this and thy were made aware of the issue and offered the baking soda, but maybe a a rule about fish in the fridge should be implemented? Other than that, our stay was comfortable and we enjoyed the closeness to the pool and beach." — Brooke D Jul 16, 2019
"Close to beach and pool"
"Condo was perfectly clean upon our arrive. Plenty of room for our family for the week. Close to the beach and pool. Walkway to beach right out the front door. Wonderful vacation." — Shera Morella Jun 15, 2019
"7 weeks of heaven"
"I just love the cape. This was my first time in this development & I can tell you, I don't think there is any place on earth that is more dog friendly. I have a golden & she had so much fun. When you walk through the community there are containers & bags to clean up after your dog. Who ever heard of bags being included? Family Affair was well stocked with most anything you might need. The bed & the pillow were very comfortable. I would recommend this rental (but not when I want to rent it - lol)," — Janet Allen Feb 01, 2019
"Amazing Beach Stay"
"Really enjoyed this unit! The kids bedroom was very stuffy so we brought some fans! Other than that we loved it! Location was perfect for beach and main pool! Can’t imagine going anywhere else ever again! As a plus, they even had dog crates so the few times we left our German Shepherd we didn’t have to worry about her getting into anything! Will be back!" — Laurie Lowrance Jul 26, 2018
"Fantastic place to stay for families with their dogs. Nice quiet beach and pool."
"The beach was beautiful and the waves are pretty gentle. It's not crystal clear water that you can see thr but there was hardly any jellyfish or seaweed and such in the water. The townhouse was comfortable. Nicely decorated and stocked with all the necessities. My kids loved the window seat. My daughter wanted to sleep there. The community is very family and pet friendly. I enjoyed walking my dog around the community and the beach. We even got to meet and talk with some fellow Sheltie owners while on the beach. We stayed with our three children 12, 10, and 6 which enjoyed the bunk beds. As they get older this unit will probably not work for us because they will want their own space but for now it was perfect. A few things went wrong which I wish were taken care of before we arrived. The kitchen sink garbage disposal did not work and after signing and reading all the rules numerous times we were afraid we would be blamed for it. You would think that house cleaning would have noted this upon cleaning up from the previous guests. It did not get fixed until we had a more serious problem of the fire alarm chirping which woke us up and made our dog bark at 4 am and other times disturbing us. Lastly, the carport lights did not work and so we could not see to rinse things off at night. We saw others had working lights and thought maybe it was for the turtles but no they just were not fixed until we asked during the fire alarm trouble. We loved the convenience of having rinse off stations below the units. My kids and I enjoyed the pool late at night but could never tell if we were suppose to be in there but atleast we were not the only ones. Overall I would stay here again because it is a wonderful family beach and we will still travel with our fur baby.

"Our fourth time at Barrier Dunes...but our first at this property. It is now our favorite...and intend to always return to this property.
WiFi is still spotty at best...
Stove has seen better days...
But everything else is first class.

"Amazing trip! We will book this property again!"
"The condo is in such a great location - directly across from the main pool and boardwalk to the ocean! It was easy to run back "home" if you forgot something or wanted to grab a bite for lunch. This condo is the perfect size for our family of 3. We will be booking again next year!" — Rachel Green Jul 15, 2017

"Great Area, Pretty Nice Place!"
"This was our first time to Cape San Blas and we really enjoyed it!
It's quiet, remote, and low key which is just our speed. There are lots of dogs everywhere which is also good for us but may not be okay with everyone. There seems to be only a few places to get prepared food and the only real grocery is a good 20-30 minute drive. But this condo complex is friendly with lots of families, two decent pools and right on the ocean. The complex has an active staff working on the grounds everyday.
The condo unit itself was well equipped with amenities and we used them all pretty much. Laundry is a must at the beach and the full kitchen was a blessing. We didn't really love having a huge master and a teeny second room but that could be us. Unfortunately the kids room had absolutely no air circulation at all and was hot the entire visit (we were there in April); I can't imagine what it would be like in the summer. There is no fan in that room either. We dropped the a/c very low to keep the kids comfortable at night but then we froze. If we'd been there longer we would have called about it.
The other frustrating thing to me is that you get one kitchen trash bag. One. A family of four cooking all meals for five days filled it quickly. And apparently the area doesn't recycle which was a bummer to me. Call me a city girl : )
We will come back but probably not to this particular unit. I also know now to bring a few extra things if booking in this complex. We've stayed at many a condo beach stop and each is different. This spot is lovely and Cape San Blas is beautiful. I must put in a good word for management - very organized and communication was excellent. The wi-fi was strong and the cable tv was great. Notes were posted with clear reminders and I appreciate that!
One last thing - this unit is one of the closest units to the bigger pool, and is very close to the ocean as well (without being one of the oceanfront units) so it is centrally located within the complex. Parking is ideal, right under the unit. A nice deck looks toward the pool, a turtle pond, and ocean-side, and has a gas grill. If you have kids, bring a scooter or bike for them if you can. The complex is great for letting them explore more turtle ponds, pools, etc on the property." — Laura Merlini Apr 02, 2017
"We truly enjoyed our stay in Barrier Dunes! We are even contemplating on purchasing a place of our own! Location was excellent and house was perfect! Thank you for sharing your place with us." — Kristi Sherman Mar 31, 2017
"Great location and clean condo"
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo was clean, bright and well furnished. All the kitchen pots, pans, and baking pans you could possibly need. The view from upper deck is wonderful. Quiet, comfortable could condo community with great beach access. Screen doors on sliding doors are in need of repair and one burner on the stove didn't work. Other than that, this was an excellent VRBO rental." — Sarah Davies Mar 18, 2017
"dog loving winter getaway"
"My wife and I and Willie our dog stayed at this great condo from 01/01/2016 till 02/29/2016 and loved it! The location was perfect with a view of the Gulf. The condo is fully furnished and has everything you would need for a relaxing stay. The barrier dunes is the ideal place to stay with your dog, beach and people friendly. This unit was very clean and Wi-Fi and phone and big screen TV were wonderful . Debbe W. took care of everything to make our stay perfect. We already booked for next year, cant wait!!!!" — richard g. menconi Jan 01, 2016
